Little N's Journey

School readiness (writing)

When we first met Little N at age 4, he faced several challenges affecting his writing skills, including weak muscle control and strength, limited hand dexterity, poor hand-eye coordination, and a lack of writing prerequisites. These factors significantly impacted his ability to engage in writing activities.

Over the past year, he has made remarkable progress through targeted activities like playdough manipulation and tracing, which have improved his muscle strength, dexterity, and coordination. He can recognize all letters and has mastered basic writing tasks, showing increased interest and ability in this area.

Expanding Language

Little N has made significant strides in his speech development, from communicating primarily through sounds and single familiar words to conversing in simple full sentences.

Through intentional and tailored activities, we focused on building his prerequisite skills, enhancing his receptive abilities, and fostering expressive language. Little N can now effectively express his wants and needs and participate in "show and tell" activities, reading from a collaboratively prepared script with confidence. His improved responsiveness to verbal prompts and ability to follow simple directions demonstrate his growing comprehension.

Little N's growth in school readiness skills and speech and language development reflects his hard work and determination and we are so proud of him 🌈
